Set up ASMTP for a WordPress website
The settings you will need

If your provider blocks port 587 as well as 25, try 465, then 2525.
WordPress sends email through your web host by default, which is often blocked or unreliable. The free WP Mail SMTP plugin lets it send through ASMTP instead. Contact forms, order confirmations, password resets and comment notifications will then go out through us.
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, then Add New. Search for "WP Mail SMTP", install it and activate it.
- Go to WP Mail SMTP, then Settings.
- Under From Email enter an address you have verified with ASMTP, such as shop@yourbusiness.co.uk. Tick "Force From Email" so every plugin uses it.
- Under From Name enter your business name. Tick "Force From Name".
- Under Mailer choose "Other SMTP".
- Fill in:
- SMTP Host: smtp.asmtp.com
- Encryption: TLS
- SMTP Port: 587
- Auto TLS: on
- Authentication: on
- SMTP Username: your ASMTP username
- SMTP Password: your ASMTP password
- Click Save Settings.
- Click the Email Test tab, enter your own address and click Send Email. Then check the ASMTP sending log.
Keep it safe: the password is stored in your WordPress database. If your site is ever hacked, reset the ASMTP password from your customer area straight away and we will tell you if we see unusual sending. For a website we recommend its own login rather than sharing one with a person's mail program, so you can reset one without disturbing the other.
Trouble?
- Test fails with a connection error: try port 465 with encryption SSL. Some hosts block all outgoing ports except 465 or 2525.
- Test succeeds but messages are not delivered: check the From address matches a verified address exactly.
