Two settings in your mail program. That is all.
You sign up and we check you out
Tell us who you are and what you will send from. Prove you own the address (we send you a link) or the domain (you add a small record). Pay by card or PayPal. We look at every new account by hand and normally approve it within a working day.
You change two settings
In Outlook, Apple Mail, your phone, your printer or WordPress, set the outgoing mail server to smtp.asmtp.com and enter the username and password we give you. Our guides show exactly where these settings live.
We send your email
Your message travels to our server over an encrypted connection. We check that it comes from an address you have verified, that it is within your limits, and that it does not look like spam. Then it goes out through Amazon's email delivery service from addresses with a strong reputation, signed so receiving servers can trust it.
You see what happened
Your customer area shows every message we handled: when, from which address, to how many people, and whether it was delivered, bounced or held.
Why the checks?
Email services live and die by the reputation of their sending addresses. If we let a spammer in, everyone's mail suffers. So we check who signs up, we limit how much a new account can send, we hold anything that looks like spam, and we act quickly on complaints. It is a little more effort at sign-up and a lot less trouble afterwards.
What about your own domain?
If you send from your own domain (you@yourbusiness.co.uk), we set up DKIM signing for it. That is a digital signature that tells Gmail, Outlook and the rest that the mail really came from you. You add one record to your domain, plus one line to your SPF record, and we do the rest. Your customer area shows the exact records to add and checks them for you.
Encryption
All connections on ports 587 and 465 are encrypted. Port 2525 is also encrypted where your device supports it. Only our Device plan may connect without encryption, for older printers and scanners that cannot do anything else, and those logins are limited to 20 messages a day for that reason.
