Set up ASMTP on Android
The settings you will need

| Incoming mail | Leave as it is. ASMTP only handles outgoing mail. |
If your provider blocks port 587 as well as 25, try 465, then 2525.
Android phones vary. These steps are for the Gmail app, which is on nearly every Android phone and can hold accounts from any provider. Samsung Email and others have the same settings under different names.
Gmail app
- Open Gmail. Tap your profile picture, then "Add another account", then Other. (If the account is already in Gmail, tap the menu, Settings, the account, then "Outgoing settings" and skip to step 4.)
- Enter your email address and tap "Manual setup". Choose Personal (IMAP) or Personal (POP3) to match your mailbox.
- Enter your incoming settings as your mailbox provider gave them. These do not change.
- On the Outgoing server screen enter:
- SMTP server: smtp.asmtp.com
- Port: 587
- Security type: STARTTLS
- Require sign-in: on
- Username: your ASMTP username
- Password: your ASMTP password
- Tap Next, finish the set-up, and send yourself a test message.
Samsung Email
Open the app, tap the menu, Settings, the account, then "Server settings". Under Outgoing server, use the same values as above.
Note: Google does not let you change the outgoing server for a Gmail (@gmail.com) account inside the Gmail app.
Trouble?
- "Couldn't connect to server": try port 465 with security type SSL/TLS.
- Sign-in failed: the username is the short login name we gave you, not your email address.
